Comfy Organic T-shirts Designed by Local Artists in Playa del Rey

Comfy Organic T-shirts Designed by Local Artists in Playa del Rey

Clean {aesthetic}, the manufacturer of Clean {tee} shirt, began as an entrepreneurial venture of two art school graduates who printed T-shirts in their distinctive style in their kitchen. Over the years, the duo grew their venture into a business with its own brick-and-mortar store and gallery in Playa del Rey, California. Today, it’s a popular place for locals and tourists alike to browse and buy colorful artworks and basic shirts.

The Clean {tee} shirts reflect the designers’ love for the modern West Coast California lifestyle, as well as their affinity for the underground arts.  The street culture marked by a relaxed approach to life, a love for casual shorts and shirts, and a love for san, sand and sea as well as surfing is also evident in these shirts.

These are T-shirts made from 100% organic cotton, a soft material that drapes well on the body while also allowing for a relaxed fit. Organic cotton is also easier to clean and easy on the environment, thanks to the absence of pesticides, fertilizers and other contaminants used in its production from the fields to the factory.

Each Clean {tee} shirts has a relaxed neck, reduced sleeve flare, and relaxed armpit holes so there are no pit puckers. The slightly longer sleeves and body make it possible to move well, whether walking down the street or coasting down on a skateboard, without exposing too much skin. The soft and lightweight quality of the cotton material also makes it seem like you’re wearing next to nothing yet still be covered.

The Clean {tee} shirts are available in several colors – white, stone blue, faded eraser, vintage black, and black – so there’s a color for every preference.  The shirts aren’t printed but therein lies its appeal – you can mix and match it with your jeans, skirts and shorts. These are available in several sizes from XS to XXL, too.

Minimal Design Desk by Pasadena’s ArtCenter Alumni Henner Jahns

Minimal Design Desk by Pasadena's ArtCenter Alumni Henner Jahns

The NIK Desk seems like a simple, common-looking desk at first glance but upon closer inspection, you’ll find that it has an array of clever features. These features are well-integrated into the desk’s basic frame and designed to increase your work productivity, as well as become a conversation piece in your office. The desk has a sophisticated design yet it’s relatively easy to set up and use.

Every NIK Desk has standard features that make it a truly versatile work desk for students, professionals, and executives. The all-around metal frame has a strong, stable and sturdy quality to it and, in fact, it’s designed to withstand external impact.

The connections between parts are metal-to-metal, which adds to its sturdiness. The adjustable glides also contribute to its stable – no wobbling – quality.

The dock shelf’s primary use is for holding and charging tablets and smartphones. You can also use it as small shelves and/or as bookends.

You have easy access to its cable tray, too, which contains peripherals like power supplies and USB ports. The cable tray also keeps the wires organized, and it’s also adjustable to your varying cable needs. You can also use the detachable in-feed channel to keep your cables to a minimum.

There are two small hooks that can be used for hanging your bags, keys and other objects. These are hidden underneath the desk so you can keep these things in a more discreet and out-of-the-way area.

The edges are designed with ergonomic use in mind. You can work on the NIK desk with your arms resting on its rounded bull-nose for many hours yet you won’t feel tired so fast.  There are also no hard edges on the table.

The tempered glass privacy screen acts as a shield against prying eyes without cutting you off completely. It’s one of the reasons the NIK desk can be configured for use as interconnected cubicles, of sorts.

The NIK desk comes shipped in a flat box and it can be assembled in 5 minutes or less.

Day of the Dead Playing Cards Made in LA by Local Artist Steve Minty

Day of the Dead Playing Cards Made in LA by Local Artist Steve Minty

The Day of the Dead, or Dia de Muertos in Spanish, is a widely celebrated holiday in Mexico and the United States. The holiday actually spans several days when family and friends gather to remember and pray for their deceased loved ones. Most people also visit the graves of their loved ones, and light candles and place flowers on them, as well as enjoy a picnic with their family.

In modern times, it’s celebrated from October 31 to November 2.

The Day of the Dead is the inspiration behind the Muertos Playing Cards. Steve Minty designed the deck of cards while the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) manufactured them.

Every card is designed with the theme of celebrating life and death in the tradition of Dia de Muertos. The history of the Day of the Dead tradition in particular and Mexican culture, in general, is reflected in the design, while the social classes present in the past are also depicted. The deck has a contemporary feel complemented by an elegant look with its gold-on-black design.

Each deck comes with 54 custom playing cards and two gaff cards. The characters and numbers are printed with gold ink on a black background, a combination that makes them pop out. The deck is packaged in a gold foil and embossed tuck box, too, for added luxury.

Steve Minty drew inspiration for his designs from the message of the Day of the Dead. He was also influenced by Aztec art, the Mexico-American Wars, and the works of Jose Posada.

The cards are then creatively named to reflect characters although the usual card characters – spade, hearts, clubs, and diamonds – are still used. The card characters include El Padre, La Hermana, El Soldado, El Catrin, La Viuda, El Bandito, El Caudillo, La Bailarina, El Campesino, El Azteca, La Catrina, and El Caballero. The Joker cards have the Muertos insignia and the sugar skull (i.e., Calaveras).

Ultra Comfy Hoodie Created by Former LA Art Director at Macy's

Los Angeles is one of the biggest apparel manufacturing hubs in the United States, its where some of the coolest under-the-radar clothing is created (like Carbon38, Clare V, BackBeat Rags, The Great). Colby Kane the inventor of the Aviator Hoodie Collection, is a designer and art director who moved to Los Angeles, California from New York City, New York in search of a better work-life balance. During his search, he came upon the idea of The Red Eye Hoodie and later the First Class Hoodie, both of which are now bestselling products.

Through it all, Kane has nurtured his passion for using amazing materials and designs sourced from around the world and then adapting them for his products. He is also passionate about making his products in Los Angeles as well as providing great value to his customers and selling directly to them. He, indeed, takes pride in the fact that his products are proudly made in the City of Angels.

The First Class Hoodie is available in two types of fabric. First, the Comfort Hoodie is made from natural bamboo fiber, a sustainable material that feels as soft as cashmere. It also has moisture wicking, antimicrobial, and breathable qualities that make it your best choice for everyday wear and leisure activities.

Second, the Sports Hoodie is made from synthetic fibers chosen for their performance qualities. It’s a great choice for more strenuous physical activities while also retaining the comfortable and convenient qualities of the First Class Hoodie. It has a sportier design, too, so you can wear it to most outdoor sports activities, such as hiking.

Every hoodie in the Aviator Hoodie Collection has practical features that distinguish it from the competition. The cuff can be worn three ways – as a standard cuff, as a mitten, and as a fingerless glove. The hood can also be worn as a standard hood or as a sleep mask.

The hardware used is also of the highest quality. The premium UCan zippers allow for a smooth opening and closing while the Paracord 550 hoodie drawstrings can withstand countless use.  Both zippers and drawstrings have a gunmetal finish for a stylish look.

Military-Grade Encryption VPN Device Created by Former JPL Mechanical Engineers

Military-Grade Encryption VPN Device Created by LA Mechanical Engineers from JPL

Many savvy smartphones, tablet, and laptop users utilize a virtual private network (VPN) to surf anonymously, stay protected from malware, and avoid censorship, among others. But why stop there? There’s a new gadget that can provide these useful services, as well as allow individuals and organizations secure and remote access to their home and office networks.

The izzbie ONE is an all-in-one VPN device that offers a personal cloud, online security, and a private local area network. This means that as you access your private network at home or in the office, your online activities will be protected without encryption.

Plus, there’s no need to go through third-party providers, such as Apple and Dropbox. These providers can encrypt files and messages but keep in mind that these can still be hacked in theory.

With izzbie ONE, you can also access geo-restricted websites and their contents, as is the case with the strict censorship laws in China. Basically, it’s a useful tool for accessing the Internet without your location determining the content you can see.

You will then be able to enjoy complete privacy and safety online. No wonder that it’s a device gaining more acceptance among digital nomads, the entrepreneurs running their own businesses on the road.

The izzbie ONE is a small black box device with plug-and-play features. Just plug it into your router using an Ethernet connection, go to your computer’s control panel, and add the internal IP addresses of the items that will be connected.

These can be your network attached storage (NAS), IP cameras, video game devices, and wireless printers. You can connect as many local networks as you want, too. You can, for example, print a paper from your laptop while in a hotel to your printer at home.

You may also build a virtual mesh network with multiple locations provided these are all connected to izzbie ONE. Think of it as being in all or any of these locations without physically being there.
